NOTE:  SATA TO USB cable is NOT included. This is only for the Desktop KIT dconvertor. You still need the SATA to USB cable. 

What is this unit for?

The sata to usb 2.5 adaptor as it says on the listing will not work for desktop hard drives out of the box. This kit is make the sata to usb 2.5 adaptor cable to work with Desktop Hard drive 3.5 inch units

Why is this unit needed?

A laptop hard drive only needs 5v power for it to function.   The desktop hard drives however needs 12v power for it to power the motor spindle. An USB port cannot provide 12v power. An usb port can only provide 5v power. We have added this convertor kit to provide an inline power to the adaptor to add 12v power.

 

What does it do?

This unit adds an inline power to the 2.5 inch adaptor cable.

How do I use the same ?

1. Connect one end(Male end) of the sata extension cable to the PiBOX India – Adaptor.

2. Connect other end (Female end) of the sata extension cable to the hard drive.

3. Connect the Power adaptor to the power adaptor black connector.

4. Power on the unit and it will be good to go!

Can i do one like this myself?

Yes. Ofcourse.. You just need to use a standard sata extension cable and use the last two cables as on the pinout to add the inline power of 12v. Make sure you use atleast 1 amps adaptor to the kit.
